The threat of bad weather forced us to move the summer Trombone Picnic indoors to the fellowship hall at Mt Auburn Presbyterian Church on July 17, 2021. Not only did we have a variety of music,
but we also had a variety of conductors enjoying the opportunity to experience the sound and responsiveness of a group of talented players. Needless to say, there was plenty of good food and desserts.
Amberley Village honored long time resident of Amberley Village and member of council, Ed Hattenbach, with a service and planting a tree near the village administration building. Peg Conway read the poem "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer,
and the Bones of Cincinnatus played the composition "Trees", by Oscar Rasbach who set the words to music.

It was a joyous occasion that brought together several trombonists and rhythm section on May 1, 2021 for the celebration of Harold Dimond's 99th birthday. He is pictured with his son, Gary. Harold is a brilliant chemist who
happens to also be a great trombonist. He is well known for his very tasteful improvising. He was an active player right up to the beginning of 2020, when the quarantine brought an end to his playing.
Without regular playing opportunities he lost strength in his embouchure and his eyesight has declined. He now leads the Gentlemen of Swing big band.

Schedules dictated that we have two trombone picnics in 2013, one in
July and one in August. The weather cooperated for two beautiful
days. We had 13 trombonists one day and 9 the next, plus some
family members.
Unforeseeable conflicts come up to prevent another 6 or 7 from
attending each time. We read a lot of great music and everyone
played their fill of high and low parts.
Dave Marlar helped to organize the trombone quartet performance at the
Luthern church in Florence, KY June 2, 2013.

For the finale, trombonists from the audience joined in to play 76
trombones. During the concert, Tim Anderson was featured soloist
for Bayrisch Polka.

Slide position Calculator
You still have to make adjustments for variations caused by mouthpiece and instrument quirks, but the calculations give a sense of how much and which direction you might need to adjust the equal tempered pitch.
Further adjustments are needed to make chords "ring", as in just intonation (whole number multiples). Music by the Bones of Cincinnatus on the web
